Olivia and Amelia

You know what they say: if you have a sister, you’ll always have a friend. That saying couldn’t be truer for sisters Olivia and Amelia. They’re best friends and are figuratively attached at the hip. Olivia, the oldest of the two, is very sweet and loves being around people. She does have a few developmental delays, but since coming into care, she is receiving the help and therapies needed to help her thrive. Amelia is still quite young, but she likes to sort shapes, explore new things, and all things Cocomelon. Due to neglect past traumas while with their biological family, Olivia and Amelia both struggle with attachment issues. Ironically, their attachment issue present itself in very different ways. Olivia’s attachment issues show as clinginess and jealousy when the attention is not on her, while Amelia struggles to get attached and let anyone close to her; although, she does have a fondness for her sister Olivia. Olivia recently started play therapy to help work through her trauma and attachment issues, and when she is of age, Amelia will be considered for treatment as well. Aside from play therapy the girls receive speech, occupational, physical therapy. For these reasons, it’s important that the girls are placed in two-parent home or a single-parent home with a lot of support. Their parents should have flexible schedules or a stay-at-home parent to help accommodate their therapies and other developmental needs.
