The description “people pleaser” can carry a negative connotation at times, suggesting that the person being described is pretending or acting to curry favor with others. But with our friend Christian, it’s exactly what it says – he genuinely tries as hard as he can to make the people around him like him and want to be around him. Christian has lived with his current foster parents for almost two years and they love him dearly, but adoption is not in their family’s plans. As close as they are, they all want to find that perfect forever family for Christian. And family is especially important to Christian. His older sister has left foster care already and they are incredibly close. He needs to maintain that positive connection to his sister. Christian’s new family also will need to help him continue to make strides with his confidence, social skills and motivation, but he understands his weaknesses and wants to do all that he can to be loved and supported by his family. And if you wanted to reward his efforts by taking him out to eat or playing basketball with him, he wouldn’t complain! Christian is just a great kid and we know you’ll agree when you meet him, too.
