For many people, not knowing what the future holds can be exciting. The options, the freedom, the ability to be spontaneous…sounds fun, right? It certainly can be, but only if you’re coming from an environment where you know you have a landing place when you need it – a family, a support system, a home that will always be there for you. What if you didn’t have those things? How would not knowing what the future holds feel then? Scary, intimidating, stressful…not so fun. That’s what our older kids hoping to find adoptive homes struggle with, and it’s what our friend Anissa has to deal with every day. Anissa is a strong young woman who’s friendly, outgoing, and helpful, but she struggles some days with the uncertainty. Her positivity gives way to hopelessness and frustration, and she acts accordingly for a little bit. But she shakes it off, pulls herself together, and pushes ahead. We’re amazed by her strength, but we don’t want her to have to be so strong. We want her to find the family who will give her the landing place she so desperately wants and needs so she can relax and just be her amazing self – the kid who loves crafts and video games, the kid who loves to try new foods, and the kid who will be a great sister, daughter, and friend. Anissa needs a family with two parents and other children of any ages to help her feel supported and loved by a whole family. She’ll be an awesome big sister, but she also needs an older sibling to look up to and learn from. Someone reading this bio today can help Anissa see her future in a positive light. If that’s you, please let us know.
