Angel

We’ve all heard the saying about how someone’s past doesn’t define who they are or what their future may hold, and it’s true. What we experience in our past can influence our current behaviors and attitudes, but those experiences don’t have to dictate where we go next. That’s the mantra for our friend Angel. She has been through the wringer as a child, and there was a time when her behaviors reflected the turmoil she had experienced. Suffice it to say, she was more than a handful. But slowly, Angel began to experience stability, consistency, and unwavering support from her foster parent, even when she acted poorly. And it clicked…she realized that she had didn’t have to be on edge all the time. She didn’t have to be ready to fight for what she needed from people. They were willing to support her and love her as she was. Everyone who knows Angel will tell you – she’s a different person now than she used to be. The real Angel loves to draw, make jewelry and other crafts, and sing. And she loves going to church. She is hopeful but hesitant. She knows that she has work to do still, and a huge stack of paper that says she’s a tough kid to handle, but she desperately wants a family. Her progress has been nothing short of amazing, but she needs the right family to really break out. Angel needs to be the youngest child in the home or the only child in the home, and she needs a committed, patient, and supportive family to help her continue to heal and grow into the woman she wants to be. If that sounds like you, let us know.
