Aleah is a really interesting young lady. She already has a career goal in mind – she wants to be an anesthesiologist! Which means it’s a good thing that she loves books and reading so much…it takes a smart, dedicated, and focused person to take on such an important career. And we have no doubt that Aleah can do it! What else does Aleah like to do? We asked her, and she gave us quite a list of favorites – animals, swimming, Takis, coloring, pizza, chocolate, and the color blue! She even has a favorite saying – “It’s raining cats and dogs!” We just love Aleah, but she’s had a tough road to this point in her life. She’s experience a lot of loss, disappointment, and upheaval, and it’s left a mark. Aleah struggles with believing that people are making fun of her (even when they’re not) and she has a huge fear of not being liked or belonging. She’s been left behind before, and her greatest fear is being left all alone with no family. When we asked her what her greatest wish was, she told us that she wants “to be in a family that loves her and won’t leave her.” Read that last sentence again, slowly. The right family for Aleah is out there. Aleah is going to need a family that is patient and understanding. They’ll have to allow Aleah the space and time to process her feelings and emotions as she learns what a loving, supportive family looks and feels like. Aleah’s perfect family will have to be committed to supporting her mental health and letting her know, every day, that she is loved and wanted and needed. That’s easy, right? Aleah is ready to be home…with you.
