Meet Gabriel, also known as “Gabe” – a pre-teen boy looking for a forever home! Gabe is very smart, perceptive, and active. He loves football, especially the Arkansas Razorbacks, and has dreams to play one day. He also loves outdoor adventures including camping, fishing, and riding his mountain bike. Gabe also really enjoys memories captured in photographs, especially photos of him when he was younger and pictures from his time with different foster families. Like most children in foster care, Gabe has experienced difficult traumas that sometimes show up in other ways. Gabe struggles to manage his anger, and sometimes when he gets upset his behavior can escalate. However, Gabe is currently receiving weekly therapy and counseling where he is working through his traumas and learning healthy coping mechanisms. Due to past traumas experienced with his biological family, Gabe struggles with abandonment issues. The pattern for Gabe’s story paints a narrative that adults only show love and protect him when things are going well. In fact, he has asked before “Why do parents just give up?” For this reason, it’s important that Gabe is adopted by a family that is committed to him through the good and bad. Gabe would do best in a either a single or two-parent home with a strong father figure, or an older brother, to be a strong male role model for him. Could your family be the right fit for Gabriel?
