Project Zero - Blog

Project Zero needs your help! We need to raise $10,000 in the next 30 days! We are actually already on DAY 4 (forgot to post to the blog!) and have raised $3420!!  We are raising money to fund our 5th annual Disney Extravaganza (May 19), to fund our monthly events to encourage waiting children, help finish off our website and to finish some details on Project Zero's album "Grafted" slated for release Nov. 2012. This is a great opportunity to meet an important need in the lives of children in foster care waiting on a forever family. For incredibly easy way to make your TAX DEDUCTIBLE donation, click the DONATE button above, or purchase one or more of the products on our product page! Thank you so much for your support!

Project Zero is excited to present our new and improved website! This site has been months in the making and has been a labor of love. We hope that our new site will be a place to highlight Pulaski County's waiting children; children who are more to us than just a picture on a page. Each one is an individual filled with gifts, personality, and the longing for the permanence of a forever family. We also hope it will be a place where people who are interested in adoption can find information and where people who want to offer hope to waiting children can plug-in. Thank you for joining us on this exciting adventure as we seek to pursue the dream of ZERO children waiting!  Imagine a world where 1 + 1 = 0

Today was another incredible event hosted by Project Zero for kids waiting to be adopted. The longer Caryl and I are foster parents and the longer we are involved with kids in our Heart Gallery, the more passionately we feel about building hope into waiting kids. God has been so good to bring people to Project Zero from all walks of life with all types of talents who graciously volunteer their time to pour into the lives of ‘our’ kids. Today it was professional dancer and dance company owner, Melanie Hybel, who offered to teach a modern dance class for some of our teen girls. It was a beautiful morning. It was obvious from the very beginning of the class that Melanie had a connection with the girls and they with her. She is a phenomenal teacher who places intrinsic value on the kids without regard to their past. It was amazing to watch and I am SO grateful for her!

We have been knee deep in writing summaries about the kids in our Heart Gallery in preparation for our new Project Zero website. Caryl and I are really excited about the new site with all the bells and whistles, but what we are most excited about is that hopefully it will be a place where ‘our’ kids get a voice; where people from all over the country are able to get a tiny glimpse into who these kids are. It only takes one split second; one tiny glimpse to change the direction of a child’s life, and a family’s life forever. That is what we are praying for; that is our heart’s mission…..

It seems incredible to me that Connor Scott Erwin, the fourth of the Erwin kiddos and the 'bio-baby' is 17 years old today! Happy Birthday Con-Con we LOVE YOU so much!!!

It’s been awhile since I’ve posted. I have never had so many meetings in all of my life! I’m so grateful that Project Zero is moving ahead full throttle, but longing for some loose ends to be tied so that there will be a little down time.

Yesterday we (Project Zero) hosted a Salon Day for 6 girls; we met at Salon Nichelle for new hairdo’s and then headed over to David’s Burgers for lunch. What an incredible gift to get to spend time with kids we are praying for and working to find families for! These days are so full of joy and excitement, but also carry with them a tangible heaviness that is not easy to shake.
